Call for Presentation for the JIMM 2023 Spring Meeting

JIMM are pleased to announce that the JIMM 2023 Spring Meeting will be held as follows, and we invite you to submit your presentation. JIMM will accept an application for presentation and submission of abstract as follows.

Please confirm the following before submitting your presentation

  • Non-members can also apply for a presentation if they pay the conference registration fee and speaker fee in advance.
  • Please pay the registration fee by the deadline. If the registration fee is not paid by the deadline, the presentation will not be accepted and will be treated as cancelled.
  • Basically, an applicant must be a speaker.
  • Abstract submission must be done at the same time as the presentation application. If these are not done at the same time, the presentation application will not be accepted.
  • To apply as a member, you will need your membership number and password. If you have lost or forgotten your password, please go to the JIMM website to have it reissued. For security reasons, passwords cannot be issued by phone or e-mail.

  • Please apply for membership and pay the annual membership fee by the following deadline. If the annual membership fee is not paid by the deadline, your presentation will not be accepted even if it is listed in the program.

How to apply for a presentation

  • To apply for General Oral Session and Poster Session, select your first and second choice of session keywords from the list of session keywords. The session to be presented will be decided with reference to the selected session keywords and the content of the presentation.
  • Application Method: All applications must be submitted through the website.
  • Abstract size: All abstracts should be one A4 size page.

1. Content of Presentation

  • Contents: Unpublished presentations that can be summarized as a speech.
  • Language: Japanese or English.

2.Qualification of speaker and fee for presentation

Members of JIMM must prepay the annual membership fee and participation fee (speaker fees are not required). If the annual membership fee and participation fee are not paid by the due date, the presentation will not be accepted.
Non-members and non-member employees of a supporting company must pay the conference registration fee and speaker's fee in advance.

Attention to regular members 65 years old and over: Please be sure to register your date of birth in the membership information data before registering for the convention. If you do not register your date of birth in your membership information, you will be charged.

Student Member: If your membership type is different from the registered membership type due to a change in graduation year or higher education, etc., please change your membership type before registering for the conference. If you have exceeded the graduation year registered in your membership information, you are automatically made a regular member.

Non-member participants will be granted a one-year membership. However, benefits will not be duplicated.

3. Change of Speakers and Cancellation of Speakers

  • In principle, changes of speakers or cancellations of presentations after the application has been submitted are not permitted.
  • If a speaker must be changed for unavoidable reasons, notify the secretariat in advance. If the change is made on the day of the meeting, the approval of the chairperson must be obtained. However, the new speaker must be the author (co-researcher) of the abstract and a member of JIMM.

4. Requests for Consecutive Lectures

Consideration will be given only when all of the following conditions are met.

  • The same session title must be used in the application.
  • The order, presenter's name, title, and, if possible, the receipt number of the application should be indicated in the remarks column of the application.
  • The request must be made before the application deadline. The information must be entered in the Remarks column.
  • In principle, no more than three consecutive presentations in the same laboratory are allowed.

5. Preference for the date of presentation

Please indicate your preferred presentation date in the remarks column when applying for a presentation. However, due to the schedule of the session, the requested date may not be available. Requests after the application deadline will not be accepted.

6. Precautions when presenting your presentation

  • You must manage your own presentation time and strictly adhere to the presentation time.
  • Present your presentation in accordance with the presenter's manual.

7. Publication of the Program

The program will be posted on the website around the end of January 2023.

Poster session

1. Poster Exhibision

One panel will be provided for poster presentations. Details on the size of the poster board will be posted on the JIMM website in early February, so please use it as a reference when preparing your poster.

2. JIMM Best Poster Award

  • Entry to the Poster Awards is required.
  • A panel of judges will review the presentations and select the best posters.
  • Requirements for entry to the Poster Awards
    ・Students and young researchers under 30 years old at the time of presentation.
    ・Those who have not been awarded this prize in the past.
  • Change of speaker
    If the speaker changes, the speaker will not be eligible for the Poster Award.
    (In case of unavoidable circumstances, it is possible to change the speaker. Notify the secretariat of this in advance.)

JIMM-ISIJ Joint Session

Upload a PDF file of the abstract (title, speaker, and text) created using the template. (To create the abstract, please download the latest version of the template from the top page of the abstract submission site.)

Please submit both the abstract submission and the presentation application at the same time. (If you do not submit them at the same time, your abstract will not be accepted.)

3. Abstract Submission Instructions:

  • When converting your manuscript to PDF, be sure to embed fonts.
  • Be sure to put a circle in front of the presenter's name (check the box for the presenter on the web application screen).
  • When uploading the abstract, please check the quality of text, figures, tables, etc. before uploading.

4. Revision of manuscripts after submission

Revision or replacement of manuscripts before the submission deadline is acceptable. However, revisions or replacements of manuscripts after the submission deadline will not be accepted.

5. Publication date of abstracts

February 21, 2023 (Tuesday)

Abstract Requirements

In order to ensure that your abstract is fair and appropriate, please prepare your abstract according to the following requirements

(Requirements)

  • The presentation should be original and unpublished.
  • The presentation should contribute to the development of science and technology of metals and related materials.
  • The presentation should not contain any content that is clearly considered to be military research.
  • The abstract must be prepared in accordance with the preparation guidelines.
  • The presenter agrees that the copyright belongs to JIMM.
  • The applicant agrees not to engage in misconduct and to be subject to disciplinary action by JIMM in the event of misconduct.
  • Not to use the content for advertising or commercial purposes.

Peer Review of Abstracts

All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by experts in the field based on the review criteria. The reviewers will determine whether the abstract is acceptable for publication based on the review criteria below. If the review result is "not appropriate for publication," the abstract will be returned to the author(s) with the reason(s) given.

(Criteria for peer review)

  • The requirements for submission of an abstract are met.
  • The contents should be accurate and free from description problems.
  • The manuscript should not contain content that could be judged as military research.
  • The title of the paper must be appropriate.
  • No research misconduct or inappropriate research behavior is involved.
  • The contents should not contain any slanderous or defamatory statements.

The information you have entered and the abstract you have registered will be directly reflected in the program, so please make sure to register correctly.

Subject title Japanese title should be no more than 150 bytes and English title should be no more than 200 bytes. The title must be the same as the title of the abstract.
Summary Enter information that will be used as a reference for the preparation of the program of the meeting. You can enter up to 200 bite in the field.
Abstract The volume of the outline should be one page in A4.
The abstract should be created using a MS WORD template, converted to PDF format, and uploaded.
Make sure that the title and authors' names entered in the application form are the same as those in the abstract.
When converting the file to PDF format, be sure to embed the fonts.
Remarks column If you wish to give consecutive presentations (under certain conditions), please indicate the order of presentations, presenter's name, title, and acceptance number if possible, and use the same keywords for the session.
