The Japan Institute of Metals and Materials

Special Issue:“Frontiers in Hypermaterials Research”

The editorial committee of Materials Transactions is planning to publish a special issue on “Frontiers in Hypermaterials Research” as March 2026.
The committee would like to invite many contributions of original articles from around the globe for this special issue.

Objective and topics of coverage are as follows:
Hypermaterials, a concept referring to a group of materials that are described uniformly in high-dimensional space, including quasicrystals and approximant crystals, were named in Japan in 2019. Recently, remarkable achievements have been made in areas such as superconductivity, magnetism, and machine learning, mostly from Japan, and the research on hypermaterials has entered a new stage. This special issue aims to widely inform both domestic and international audiences about the remarkable advancements in the field of hypermaterials. We are broadly soliciting the latest experimental, theoretical, computational, and data science papers from various fields related to the structure, properties, and applications of hypermaterials and related hyperuniform materials.

Topics:
Magnetic hypermaterials, Semiconducting hypermaterials, Oxide hypermaterials, Superconducting hypermaterials, Quantum-critical hypermaterials, Inorganic Hypermaterials, Structure of hypermaterials, Hypermaterials informatics, Application of hypermaterials, Hyperuniform amorphous materials
