Open Choice Service (optional) for Mater. Trans.

In response to many requests from authors, we have launched a new optional service: make your paper available for free-download immediately after the publication.
If the author pay 33,000 yen(30,000 yen without tax) in addition to the Publication Charge, everyone can read and download your paper directly after publishing without a half year of the embargo period.
To use Open Choice service, please inform us by noting that on the Publication Charge & Reprints Order Form in your proofreading.
Advance View service is available only for the Online Journal (J-STAGE) because Online Journal (JIM) does not offer the service.

Graphical Abstract

The authors are strongly encouraged to provide a graphical abstract (GA) that conveys the essence of the paper. You will edit appropriate figures with a few sentences so that the readers can easily catch the importance of your paper through GA. No additional charge is requested for GA but it may be amended by reviewers after checked.

Our editorial team wishes your GA helps your paper be more cited and you are helped to cite other related papers published in Materials Transactions.

Privilege of Authors

One-year free access for all papers is provided for the authors of Materials Transactions.
We always welcome your contributions.

Delayed Free Download Service for Non-Subscribers

Materials Transactions Online Journal provides delayed free download service for the papers published before half year.

Materials Journal Portal Site

In order to disseminate materials-related information towards the world from Japan, “Materials Journal Portal Site” was finally established in March, 2006.
It is the only integrated site comprehensively collecting academic journals information, which is useful for both researchers and engineers of materials. This site will contribute to sustainable prosperity of society through the promotion of the research and development in the fields of materials-science and engineering.

Special Issue: “Recent Research and Development in the Processing, Microstructure, and Properties of Titanium and Its Alloys”

The editorial committee of Materials Transactions is planning to publish a special issue on “Recent Research and Development in the Processing, Microstructure, and Properties of Titanium and Its Alloys” as December 2022.

The committee would like to invite many contributions of original articles from around the globe for this special issue.

Objective and topics of coverage are as follows:
The 15th World Conference on Titanium, the largest international conference on Ti science and technology, will be held in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2023. This conference is expected to boost research efforts into lowering its production costs, expanding its applications into several fields (such as aerospace, medicine, and environmental engineering), and enhancing its functionality. An academic organization in Japan has also been established for work in Ti science and technology. Materials Transactions has published special issues on titanium and its alloys in 2009, 2013, and 2019, around the time of the World Congress on Titanium. We welcome papers on the latest research and developments in the processing, microstructure, and properties of Ti, Ti alloys, and Ti-based intermetallic compounds in areas related (but not limited) to smelting and refining, additive manufacturing (AM), multi-materialization, hot/cold working, compositing, microstructure formation, phase transformation, and their mechanical, chemical, and physical properties.

Topics: smelting and refining, additive manufacturing, wrought processing, computational engineering, multi-materialization, microstructures, phase transformation, surface modification, aerospace, biomedical device, intermetallic compounds, high entropy alloys

Manuscripts due: June 1, 2022
