"Materials Transactions" originally started as an international journal in 1960 having a good historical background with the journal name "Transactions of the Japan Institute of Metals". Being renamed to "Materials transactions, JIM" in 1989, and unified with publications in 13 other institutes in the field of materials science and engineering, it came to the present journal name.
